The aerospace industry giant Boeing has recognized a bearings maker in the region with its Gold Performance Excellence Award.

Muskegon-based Kaydon Bearings, an SKF Group company, said this week that it’s one of 124 suppliers to receive the gold-level award, having maintained a gold composite performance rating for 12 consecutive months, from Oct. 1, 2012 to Sept. 30, 2013.

Boeing hands out the awards annually.
Kaydon manufactures ball bearings and roller bearings for the aerospace, defense, industrial machinery and heavy equipment industries.

It has supplied bearings to Boeing for the Apache helicopter program since it went into production in 1983.
Two Kaydon plants — in Muskegon and Sumter, S.C. — are certified to AS9100C, the international standard for the aerospace industry.

“Kaydon is delighted to be honored again this year by Boeing, and especially proud to achieve the gold level,” said John Saber, director of aerospace and defense, Kaydon Bearings. “This award is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the entire Kaydon team.”
