Schaeffler showcases motion technology for autonomous, efficient construction equipment

The company presented electromechanical actuators, sensor systems, electric drives and high-performance bearings designed to reduce downtime, energy use and maintenance requirements at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026.

Schaeffler presented its latest motion technology solutions for construction equipment at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, held March 3–7 in Las Vegas., aimed at helping construction equipment OEMs and operators improve automation, efficiency and sustainability. The company highlighted electromechanical actuators, sensor systems, electric drives and high-performance bearings designed to reduce downtime, energy use and maintenance requirements.

Electromechanical actuators replace hydraulic systems, enabling precise, energy-efficient motion for lifting, tilting, and auxiliary functions. Key products included the Ewellix EMA-80 3-ton actuator for heavy lifting, linear actuators with absolute position feedback, and high-torque rotary actuators with oil-free, maintenance-free designs.

Schaeffler also presented sensors and mechatronic systems that support integrated powertrain management and emissions monitoring. This included torque measurement sensors, ultrasonic oil level sensors, air and exhaust system sensors, and NOx and differential pressure sensors, designed for mobile machinery applications.

The company’s high-performance bearings and valve train components are intended to improve efficiency and service life in electrified and off-road construction equipment. Products highlighted included X-life tapered roller bearings, NJ23-ILR cylindrical roller bearings, and variable valve systems such as iFlexAir and iRockAir, which can reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency.

Brian Kreifels, Schaeffler division vice president for Industrial Bearings in the Americas, said the technologies address challenges such as labor shortages, productivity demands, and sustainability requirements in the construction industry.
