SKF Automotive Introduces Ultra-Low Friction Wheel Bearing

SKF Automotive introduces its latest innovation in wheel bearing technology, the Ultra-Low Friction Wheel Bearing. Aimed primarily at passenger vehicles, this product integrates new features into an existing bearing design, maintaining industry standards while offering significant improvements, the company said. “It brings significant efficiency improvements to electric vehicles (EVs), achieving a 30% reduction in friction compared to current market competitors,” SKF added.

This innovative third generation (GEN 3) wheel bearing features a unique internal geometry, a distinctive flange shape, low-friction grease, SKF’s proprietary low-friction seal, optimized preload range and a lightweight design, SKF explained in a news release about the new product. The significant reduction in friction translates into more efficient use of energy in customers’ vehicles, increasing battery range in terms of miles per charge.
